Material that expresses spatial elements that are uniquely Japanese

Our involvement with Nosaku, a manufacturer of brass and tin household utensils, began with product development in 2000, when we collaborated to develop the world’s first 100% tin vessel. Since then, we have been involved in all aspects of space design for more than 20 years, including exhibition venue design, store design for directly managed stores, and company building design.
For the KITTE Marunouchi store in front of Tokyo Station, we used Japanese materials such as cypress wood, cedar wood, linden wood, and noren (bamboo blind) to express the Japanese style, and we also hung a large lighting fixture for our main product, the Onion Wind Bell, to express the Nosaku style. The beam shape configured in the store is for hanging the “wind chimes” and at the same time, it gives the space a change and depth. In addition, Nosaku stores always plan a pleasant working environment for their staff. In this case again, we created a work space near the store window that hides the hand at the counter, improving the visibility of the store and creating a place to stay where one can also enjoy the view of Tokyo Station.
