Dijon studio Manufacture XXI presents a collection of organic luminaires. Noda is inspired by nature, both in its form and in its manufacture. The materials used in the collection are recycled, with the aim of creating virtuous creations.
Shapes inspired by nature
The shape of these luminaires is reminiscent of the birth of a tree branch. That’s precisely what the collection’s designers were inspired by. Nature, and the plant world in particular, abounds in shapes that are more or less random, but always recognizable. It’s an infinite source of inspiration for designers. By giving this singular form to lighting fixtures, they bring coherence between the material of which they are made and their final appearance. Inspired by nature, and respectful of it.
The light bulb, which appears to be just resting on the structure, comes as a surprise and contrasts with the shape of the luminaire’s base. The light source has not been placed at random. It’s through branching that the tree adapts to its environment and grows, seeking out light. The base of the lamp takes up the idea of a branch seeking light through its termination. The bulb completes this poetic image.
An eco-responsible material
The Noda collection is made from recycled cellulose. The final composite is cold-processed. The resulting material can be molded to create mass-produced objects, or shaped by hand to produce unique creations. The material is then mass-dyed with natural pigments. Everything in the Noda collection is natural and eco-responsible. What fascinates us most about plants is their ability to adapt to resources. In the same way, the cellulose used here adapts to reform a new material and come to life through these luminaires.
The Noda collection is available in 7 shades, but can also be made to measure on request. It is possible to customize the color, with no limit to the choice, but also to order different finishes: textured, smooth, matte or glossy.
